Denny Hamlin dominated late in the race and held off a surging Kyle Larson by 0.256 seconds who was closing in on the final laps. Denny backed up his claim from his podcast last week where he declared that he was going to win this week.

Martin Truex Jr. looked to have the dominant car early on, leading 69 laps on his way to a stage 1 win. However, Truex suffered some front end damage on a restart and was unable to reclaim the lead after. Despite the damage, Truex still managed his way to a 3rd place finish.

William Byron, Bubba Wallace and Christopher Bell, who have all had strong seasons so far, all wrecked out of the race with 71 laps left. This marks Bell’s 4th straight race with major difficulties. Although the number 20 driver has breathing room with a win back at Phoenix, these last handful of races have hurt his standings in the points.

Denny looks to continue his strong start to the season at two more tracks he has a history of success at, Kansas and Darlington.

IN THE NEWS

🚨 Erik Jones suffered a compression fracture in his lower vertebra following his vicious hit at Talladega last week. Corey Heim replaced him in the No. 43 Toyota at Dover and placed 25th in his Cup Series debut. Jones’ return has yet to be determined.

πŸ›ž NASCAR announced three tire options for the All-Star Race next month at North Wilkesboro Speedway. The different tire compounds follow F1 type rules where teams will be able to decide between different grips and tire wears. The decision will add an extra layer of strategy for teams and should add excitement to the race.
